Days of our lives

 This past Monday we met with oncology at Brantford GH(we are switching to BGH since it's closer to us.) We really liked the oncologist we met and appreciated his honesty. He shared from his medical perspective Jesse didn't have much hope and could only see two years. That was tough to hear. As I write and think about my own life, what would I do with two years?  What about you?  Who would you forgive that you've been holding a grudge toward? How would you love and where would you put your time and energy? Because truthfully none of us know the number of days we will spend on this earth. Our days are numbered and we are living on borrowed time. So what are we going to do with that time?

I'm reminded of this verse :
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Psalm 20:7-8
 Some trust in doctors and some trust in chemo but WE will trust in the name of the Lord. No matter what our outcome here, Jesse knows where his hope lies, In Jesus and he knows how temporary this life is.

God never changes.(Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever Hebrews 13:8, The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever Isaiah 40:8)  Everything around us changes-seasons, our bodies, our age, the life we know. If one thing, covid has taught me that nothing stays the same. I may think that that thing may be there tomorrow but who knows. That's why I'm so grateful that God stays the same. He is the same God who spoke"let there be light" as the very first words of the Bible. He's the same God who walked with Abraham,  Jacob and Issac. The same God who walked with David as he wrote most of the psalms in hard times. And guess what He is the same God who walks with Jesse and I! What a privilege to know Him. The creator of the universe wants a relationship with me! Incredible, and when everything around me is shaking He's the same.

So today as things change in your life, I encourage you to put your trust and hope in God. This world and all that's in it will crumble and pass away one day but He won't. He's the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. May we all use these days on this earth to truly glorify Him.

Thursday Jesse will have another CT scan to see if things have changed. We are tentatively starting chemo next Wednesday but we'll make a final decision on that once we see the CT results. I know the last blog i talked about surgery before chemo but all Jesse's doctors are recommending chemo before that step. We have learned that no one really knows what this cancer will do and what will happen but ultimately God does and we rest in Him.
Blessings to you all,
Jenn and Jesse

 God is our refuge and strength,
A very ready help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth shakes
And the mountains slip into the heart of the sea;
Though its waters roar and foam,
Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride.
There is a river whose streams make the city of God happy,
The holy dwelling places of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered;
He raised His voice, the earth quaked.
The Lord of armies is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold.
Come, behold the works of the Lord,
Who has inflicted horrific events on the earth.
He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariots with fire.
Stop striving and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted on the earth.”
The Lord of armies is with us;
The God of Jacob is our stronghold. - Psalm 46
