Reckless Love

This week we actually had to laugh at how much bigger God is then we could ever imagine. Jesse's been listening a lot to the song called "Reckless Love" and has been moved at how God is in a sense reckless when it comes to loving us. Thinking about the story of the shepherd leaving his sheep in order to find one lost sheep. https://youtu.be/6xx0d3R2LoU

The Parable of the Lost Sheep:
Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
Then Jesus told them this parable: “Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’ I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. -Luke 15:1-7

He really does do that for us and how he wants a real relationship with you. It's not about religion and a set of rules, it's about a relationship with Jesus. God isn't this big bad mean guy sitting up in heaven wanting to strike you down every time you do something bad. No, He's just that good that He sent His only Son Jesus to this dark and lonesome world as a baby.  To grow up into a man and ultimately be the ultimate sacrifice for our sinful hearts. If you look around today it's pretty insane and chaotic. I don't know about you but it's hard to doubt that we live in a fallen sinful world. So the gospel is simple: God so loved the world(US) that He sent His Son (Jesus) so that whoever believes in Him(Jesus) would have eternal life. BAM... done it's not about all that other stuff, it's about a relationship and nothing I do or say can change that . I accepted Jesus and what He did for me on that day when He died on the cross then He rose from the grave 3 days later(Hallelujah). Now I have a relationship with Him and know that once my earthly body decides it's had enough or whatever way I die, I will go to be with Jesus in glory forever and ever amen. We can't earn His love and we don't deserve it but He gives Himself away. So let me challenge you to put all your preconceived ideas of Jesus and the bible away. Just start by picking up the bible and asking God to speak to you. His word is alive and He will speak to you.

Wednesday morning Jesse and I were off to do some chores around the farm. As we pulled out of the driveway we stopped by the mailbox to grab the mail. It was full so I started to rummage through the junk as Jesse was driving. I noticed a yellow envelope addressed to Jesse from one of our doctors who we had met. It had the doctor's home address on it which I thought was really strange. I opened the envelope and read the letter that was inside. My jaw hit the floor and I said "are you for real." Jesse said "what, what" and pulled over to the side of the road. In the next envelope there are 12 cheques post dated for a substantial monthly amount . This doctor had wanted to gift us this money in order to help with the financial burden of cancer. We were BLOWN AWAY. God had impressed on this doctor's heart to give this money to us so that we wouldn't have to worry financially. That He would care so much about these details in our lives. Jesse referenced the song "Reckless Love" again after receiving this gift.  Jesse said it's almost so insane and "reckless" of someone to just give that gift away. What a reminder of how much God loves us that He would do whatever it took for us to have a relationship with Him. Pretty incredible! So we are absolutely humbled by how God is moving in our lives. We're so honored to be chosen for this journey and such a time as this. He is faithful and we're so grateful we knew His truths and had a relationship before going through this hard season in our lives. Jesus is the answer!
