Taste and See that the Lord is Good

 It blows me away how fast time goes. How cancer has become our "new normal" so quickly and how we've settled into our routines.  Cancer is part of our lives right now but we've made a choice for it not to overtake our lives. It's all about perspective and the choice to continue to live amidst our circumstances.

We were playing a game the other night and as we flipped the hour glass over for each person's turn, I pictured our lives. How the sand in that hour glass is each one of our days. We don't know when that sand will run out and when our days will come to an end. We may think we have all this sand left but it could be the last grain, our last day. Jesse's diagnosis has taught us to live fully and embrace life. It's funny how we have to look death in the eyes before we fully start to live. When we touch eternity we begin to see all things simply (Corrie ten boom).

We give all the glory to our Lord Jesus for this update! Jesse had a CT scan recently and the scan showed that everything is shrinking! Praise His holy name! The spots in his lungs, liver and colon have all shrunk close to a cm. The oncologist was very pleased with this progress.  When I asked him if he expected to see a response like this he said "no, this is an excellent result."  Although the oncologist still think surgery is out of the question(because the cancer is in many places)we continue to thank God for this progress.  Back in May we we're told when we decided not to proceed with chemo that Jesse would probably be gone by September or certainly on his death bed. This really is miracle to see how well Jesse is doing and responding to treatment.  Jesse will continue to do chemo and we'll meet with the colon surgeon Dec 19th to see her opinion on surgery and Jesse's progress. The oncologist says Jesse will be on chemo until end of life but we know who has the final say over his life!

We wouldn't know Jesus like we do today unless we went through these past 8 months. To know Him as our Refugee, strong tower and rock. It's really where the rubber meets the road when your faced with death. We had to surrender it all, and got to see everything we believed was TRUE. He is there in the valleys and is faithful. We wouldn't trade the past 8 months because we've got to taste the sweetness of the Lord like never before. It scares me to think about going back to a place where life was just normal. Where we could potentially forget God on the mountain tops because things are good and we don't have to rely on Him each day to be our supply.

Lord Jesus, help us to grow to know you more until the day you call us home! Amen!

Thank you again for all your prayers and support to our family. We are truly blessed!

In Christ,

Jesse and Jenn

Taste and see that the LORD is good.

Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!

Fear the LORD, you his godly people,

for those who fear him will have all they need.

10 Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,

but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.

11 Come, my children, and listen to me,

and I will teach you to fear the LORD.

12 Does anyone want to live a life

that is long and prosperous?

13 Then keep your tongue from speaking evil

and your lips from telling lies!

14 Turn away from evil and do good.

Search for peace, and work to maintain it.

15 The eyes of the LORD watch over those who do right;

his ears are open to their cries for help.

16 But the LORD turns his face against those who do evil;

he will erase their memory from the earth.

17 The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help.

He rescues them from all their troubles.

18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;

he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

19 The righteous person faces many troubles,

but the LORD comes to the rescue each time.

20 For the LORD protects the bones of the righteous;

not one of them is broken!

21 Calamity will surely destroy the wicked,

and those who hate the righteous will be punished.

22 But the LORD will redeem those who serve him.

No one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.-  Psalm 34:8-22
