Two Years

March, it’s a month of many events and emotions in our lives. From Jesse’s birthday(35 this year), to the month he got diagnosed and also the two year marker since that diagnosis; to say the least, there’s lots of ups and downs in the month of March for us.

If I’m honest we’ve both been in a season of struggle lately. I don’t have words to say and my prayers are few words and more crying out for His help. There is a sense of exhaustion as we come up to the two year mark on March 31st. Don’t get me wrong we’re very grateful for this milestone but in the back of our minds we ask the question, Lord, how long can we keep doing this? The appointments on the calendar, watching Jesse feel terrible every other week, and the everyday grind of life….it can all be a lot. I don’t want to depict a picture of sunshine and strength all the time because it’s just not true . Everyday is a battle to keep abiding in Jesus and some days we don’t. Some days fear and things of this life get the best of us. Life is hard and no one can prepare you for what gets thrown your way . As we continue to walk this journey out, I ask that you continue to lift us up before Jesus. That you ask on our behalf for strength for everyday because some days we just can’t do it. That you ask that our eyes continue to be fixed on Him the giver of life and that glory would be given to Him.  That when we are weak that He would be our strength.

As I’ve been studying 2 Peter I’ve been reminded that God has given us EVERYTHING we need for living a godly life. That every situation we face as believers there is an answer in His Word.

“By His divine power, God has given us EVERYTHING we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to KNOW HIM, the one who called us to Himself by means of His marvelous glory and excellence. And because of His glory and excellence, He has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share His divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.   2 Peter 1: 3-4  There’s an action in the above verses and that action is “by coming to KNOW HIM.” It takes time and effort to get to know Jesus and unless we get to know Him, we won’t have everything we need because He is everything we need. May I encourage you to spend time with Him each day and get to know Him .

Jesse had a scan at the end of February which showed everything is stable (hasn't changed, all good news). He has not been doing hypothermia treatments as often but plans to start regularly doing this with his chemotherapy treatments as we have seen good results when regularly doing this treatment. He will have another scan at the end of May.

We took a very spontaneous trip to Kentucky during March break with the kids. It was a great time away and a wonderful experience to see the Ark Encounter. We’re looking forward to spring planting this year and the beautiful change of season. It’s hard to believe that spring is nearly here!

Jesse will have his 30th chemo treatment tomorrow and we continue to hear how well he is doing from the doctors and nurses.

Some songs that have been speaking to us lately:
